WHAT TO EXPECT

Is it your first time coming to a Chiropractor? Don't fret! Many people are a bit nervous their first time. We will make sure you are 100% comfortable with your services.

WHAT IS YOUR NEW PATIENT PROCEDURE?

Each person is different, but in general, your first visit will follow a pretty standard path.

First, you'll fill out some forms to provide us with information regarding your health history and any discomfort you may be feeling.

Next, Dr. Kent Semlow will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent. In some instances, we may perform a few X-rays to get a more completely picture of the care needed.

After that, Dr. Semlow will advise on treatment, follow-up appointments, and perform an adjustment.

WHAT TECHNIQUES ARE USED AT SEMLOW CHIROPRACTIC CLINIC?

You'll find that Dr. Kent Semlow takes time with each individual patient to get to know them and their specific needs as a patient.

We provide advanced spinal correction and chiropractic adjustments utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic care have chiropractors been able to provide the level of help and expertise that is available today.

At Semlow Chiropractic, we teach our patients how to perform special "blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in their body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan.

Massage therapy does more than make you feel good, it can actually help your body achieve balance and health. Massage therapy offers a natural treatment approach which actually relieves musculoskeletal pain for many patients. Our chiropractic office provides specific massage and muscular therapy that is complimentary to their chiropractic care.

WHAT ARE THE PHASES OF CHIROPRACTIC CARE I CAN EXPECT?

Phase 1: Relief Care If you are in pain when you come into our Macomb chiropractic office, our first objective is to help you reduce pain and start feeling better as soon as possible. Depending on the severity of the underlying condition which is causing your pain, it is typical for a patient to need chiropractic care or adjustments 2-3 times per week for 4-12 weeks.

Phase 2: Corrective/Restorative Care During the corrective phase of chiropractic care, muscles and other tissues are allowed to heal more completely, which helps prevent further injury or pain. The goal of corrective or restorative chiropractic care is to help bring your body back to 100% functioning. It is typical to need chiropractic care or adjustments about 4-8 times per month for 6-24 months, depending on your overall health and the severity of your problem.

Phase 3: Wellness Care Once your body has fully healed and you are no longer experiencing back pain or other pain symptoms, it is important to come in for periodic chiropractic adjustments to avoid further problems in the future. Usually, this phase of chiropractic care only requires a quick visit to the chiropractor 1-4 times per month, based on your lifestyle and goals.
